so..
im sure as you all know, that yesterday was dear pop-o devenny's birthday. i have to say, it was pretty eventful. With the loss of my dad, the usual tradition of feasting at mom-o and pop-o's was almost the same, but with one empty chair, and an extra lit candle on the table.
well.. dinner was scheduled for 3 o'clock, and if you know the devenny family, eating at 3, means arriving extra early, or a half an hour late. but, no matter what time you get there, everyone always waits until the last person finally arrives. so in my case, i came at 3:30 with jenny and jarrett the last people to arrive. when we got to the famous diner of momo and popo (otherwise known as their kitchen), we unloaded all 27 tons of our presents, and left 15 tons in the truck. (most of it was my stuff, ya no, clothes, violin, some other presents.)
when we got inside it smelt soooo good, as always.
mom-o opened the door and the smell of food just filled the air, it was amazing.
we walked in and everyone said their usual hellos and gave us some hugs. i put the 6 bags of presents down i was carrying, and made my way to the kitchen. the usual happened.. pretty much just ate some food, and talked with everyone.
then, it was time to sing happy birthday to the birthday boy. mom-o lighted the candles, but before she did.. i had asked pop-o if there was an extra candle i could use..so he directed me to momo who handed me a little 6oz yankee candle. i went back to the dining room, and lighted the candle.. i told everyone that the candle was for my dad. (love ya dad. god i miss you). so he was there.. in a way, he really was.
after popo blew out his candles and we handed out the cake, it was time for some presents for the little toddler. (hehe) we handed some presents, and he opened them. (sadly, i dont have pictures from last night).. but hopefully you get the idea. Pop-o was very grateful but he kept saying he didnt want anything and that the most important gift was the family that was around him. (awee, thanks pop, we love you too.)
after pop-o opened his gifts, i got handed a bag, a box, a small bag that i kept putting on the counter (sorry aunt jo), and got thrown a pink package from meg. (she must have told me like 7 times to open it. haha, i just had to wait for the right moment to open it. hehe)
we opened our presents, and some water works came. when momo opened the box from jenny, there was a picture stand that said memories. There were three pictures in it, of my dad and jenny.. one from halloween 2 years ago when jen was the shark that said best catch ever and my dad was the fisherman. there was also a picture from their first trip together (i think it was on a crusie), and one from zach and tonia's wedding. i have to say, those pictures were some tear jerkers, but they showed just how much we think about dad every day. we miss ya dad, hope heaven is as great as its said to be.
so, after everyone opened the presents, it was time for the christmas eve service held at my church. (some crazy family ill tell ya, want to come see me play the violin.) haha. it was nice, we played 3 songs, and then my uncle (the pastor of the church) said a little message about the christmas story. then, it was time for the traditional candlelight service. the ushers lit the pastor's candle and then the little light traveled all through the sanctuary, till everyone's candle was light. then it hit me, i started crying, and looked towards jenny. i went to stand next to her, we stood there singing silent night, with tears pouring down our face, and runny noses, embraced in each others arms planning on never lettin go. id say my dad told me merry christmas last night, i really believe he did. it really meant a lot to me that my family went to the service, i mean, they always do.. but this year was a little different. Dad always used to come, he liked hearin me play the violin, but i think thats about all. but, this year i think he came for the whole service. he was there, might have just been there in my heart, but it was an appearance, so it meant a lot...
so, thanks dad, merry christmas. i love you so much. ill be talking to you through walls like i always do, hope you can hear me. and if ya cant, try to get some hearin aids.. :]
well, thats all the bloggin i got for now.. love ya,
